DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: The defense clearly got the better of the offense Monday and that was best exhibited by a four-play stretch during 11-on-11 drills. On the first play, safety Sean Considine picked off a Joe Flacco pass that ricocheted off of Anquan Boldin. Cornerback Lardarius Webb sacked Flacco on the second play before tight end Matt Balasavage and Ray Rice had drops on third and fourth down.

PLAY OF THE DAY: There was one bright spot for the offense. Working in the shadow of his own goal line, Flacco made a gorgeous throw down the sidelines to Boldin who got behind second-year cornerback Jimmy Smith. Boldin wasn't touched down until he reached the opponent's 20-yard line.

DON'T MIND ME: Ravens safety Ed Reed is full of surprises, playing last Thursday even when the team said he wouldn't. Monday, he ducked in the offensive huddle as Flacco was calling a play during an 11-on-11 drill. Standing next to 6-foot-8, 360-pound tackle Bryant McKinnie, Reed blended in nicely. However, he was eventually noticed, prompting him to jog away.

STANDOUT PERFORMER: Webb allowed a couple of catches early, including a Flacco touchdown pass to LaQuan Williams. However, the Ravens' top corner gained some redemption by stepping in front of a Flacco pass intended for Deonte Thompson and picking it off. He later registered a sack on Flacco and gave the wide receivers little room all afternoon.

NEWCOMER WATCH: The past week has been a struggle for undrafted free agent wide receiver Dorian Graham, who was targeted five times in the preseason opener but wound up with just one catch for zero yards. Monday, Graham dropped two routine passes and then couldn't prevent a third throw from hitting the ground. The former Syracuse standout has made some plays in camp, but the Ravens have several young wide receivers performing well, leaving Graham with little margin for error.

INJURIES: The Ravens continue to get healthier with wide receiver Tandon Doss (hamstring) and cornerback Chykie Brown (hamstring) returning to practice and tackle/guard Jah Reid (right calf) participating in his first practice of training camp. The non-participants included wide receivers Devin Goda (undisclosed), Jacoby Jones (leg) and David Reed (knee), tight ends Ed Dickson (shoulder) and Dennis Pitta (broken hand), guard Bobbie Williams (right ankle), linebackers Josh Bynes (back), Darryl Blackstock (groin) and Terrell Suggs (Achilles), defensive linemen Pernell McPhee (knee) and Ryan McBean (ankle) and cornerback Asa Jackson (hamstring). Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that Williams will miss Tuesday's practice as well to rest a swollen right ankle.

OVERHEARD: "He's a guy who goes till his heart explodes." – Harbaugh while asking wide receivers coach Jim Hostler to substitute a hobbled Torrey Smith from a drill. Smith has been playing through a sprained right ankle.
