OK, somebody has to say it. Rookie quarterback Joe Flacco has been looking a lot like Kyle Boller the past two weeks. He threw short passes into his teammates' knees and threw intermediate ones over their heads. He failed to protect the ball a few times.
Offensive line: D
The Ravens couldn't run against the worst run defense in the league. The Colts crammed the line of scrimmage, and they got penetration to shut off the running lanes. Flacco had little time to throw the ball and moved around to gain more time.
Wide receivers: C-
The Ravens stayed with a lot of short passes. Mason had six catches for 70 yards and Demetrius Williams also had six for 53 yards. The Ravens had to throw short because Indianapolis took away the deep stuff.
Running backs: C-
There were no holes, and the Ravens had to abandon the running game early because they got behind. Rookie Ray Rice led the Ravens with 23 yards on six carries. That in itself tells you the Ravens had a bad game.
Defensive line: D
The interior of this group held up well, but there wasn't much of a pass rush. Tackles Haloti Ngata and Justin Bannan failed to collapse the pocket against quarterback Peyton Manning. Defensive end Trevor Pryce was a second late all afternoon.
The names of linebackers Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Bart Scott weren't mentioned often, and Manning had an answer for their blitzes. Outside linebacker Jarret Johnson played well, and Suggs got better as the game went on.
Defensive backs: F
The Colts took turns lighting up the Ravens cornerbacks, and they didn't seem to get much help over the top. The Ravens have to improve their tackling, and it has been poor the past three weeks. Time to break out those tackling dummies.
Special teams: D
Punter Sam Koch has to put his leg in the ice tub from all the punts. Return specialist Yamon Figurs has been getting hammered and is running scared. Matt Stover converted on a 37-yard field goal, so he gets to stay around for another week.
Your turn: Grade the Ravens on their 31-3 loss to the Colts.
