Brady Quinn's last start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns was Sept. 27 in Baltimore. Benched at halftime of a 34-3 loss to the Ravens, Quinn will make his first start since then in Monday night's return match.

Browns coach Eric Mangini announced on Wednesday the decision to bench Derek Anderson, who had completed just 42 of 89 passes - with seven interceptions - in his last three games against the Ravens.

Quinn, a first-round pick in 2007, threw for one touchdown and three interceptions in three starts this season.

"When I initially talked to Brady and we made the change, one of the things that I stressed to him was the importance of continuing to work at the same level he had been working at, and he'd been doing a lot of good things," Mangini said. "And over this period, he's done that, and he's done the things that I've asked him to do. I think he's had some good weeks of practice. I thought he had an excellent week this past week during our bye practices, and I'm looking forward to him really taking advantage of this opportunity."

The Browns have scored just five offensive touchdowns this season and average of 221.1 total yards a game (31st in the NFL).

Having traded wide-out Braylon Edwards earlier in the season, their No. 1 receiver is Mohamed Massaquoi, who has 19 catches and no touch- downs.

Edwards excels
With defensive tackle Haloti Ngata sidelined by a sprained ankle in Cincinnati, the Ravens turned defensive end Dwan Edwards loose on the pass rush and were rewarded with one of the best games of Edwards' six-year career.

Edwards made eight tackles, including a career-high seven solos, and had two quarterback hurries. Those figures either led the team or were tied for the lead.

"I think we really did have a pretty good game plan," Edwards said. "It allowed me to do some things I might not normally do. With Haloti being out, it gives me an opportunity to rush the passer a little more. That's always good."

It was Edwards' third consecutive start for the Ravens since replacing Trevor Pryce. The team officially adjusted its depth chart Wednesday to recognize that change.

F. Washington update
Fabian Washington was optimistic that the bruised left thigh he suffered in Cincinnati will not prevent him from suiting up against the Browns.

"I hope not," the cornerback said. "I expect to be out there."

Washington bruised the thigh while tackling Chris Henry - a play on which the wide receiver broke his forearm. Washington said he has watched film four times and still can't figure out how he got hurt. "It hurts, but that's to be expected," he said.
