Mike Preston grades the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Patriots
Quarterback: A
Joe Flacco missed some open receivers early, but he carried the Ravens. He moved around well in the pocket and made some strong throws to the sideline. His third drive was outstanding.

You must own a book on criticism, if not, consider a future in writing one, as you would probably do quite well with it. Your statements about under/over throwing etc, blah blah blah, me me me etc etc apply to every QB including Brady and Rodgers etc throughout the playoffs.
The Patriots sure do have a great "worse defense" against our offensive line considering the fact that they had more sacks and pressure on the QB than we did, and that they stuffed our running game all day long.
For all your abundant posts, you may want to go back and look at those first three sets of downs. Three runs, 2 sacks, a scramble away from a sack and throwing under pressure the rest of the time. That is from the "worst defense" (as you put it).
You may recall on the first set of downs he scrambled (I guess like zombies do) which avoided a sack. I typically don't envision zombies scrambling like that much less the other great runs, but hey, what do I know, you are obviously the zombie expert. (could be another book)
Regarding "emotions" you might want to check your own out, as you have posted non-stop on this topic. Preston, of all people, has been pretty critical of Flacco this entire year. The fact that he gave him an A and that the majority of commentators, fans, aliens, small animals, etc. said he had a tremendous game might be your first clue.
Good luck with your book.
The emotions of this loss are overwhelming people. No way that performance warrants an "A". I'll throw him a "B". He was going against the worst Defense in the AFC, not the Patriots' Offense. His performance, versus Brady going against our # 3 Defense, is irrelevant. He played like a zombie the 1st Qtr with three posessions for minus 6 yards against them. He left open receivers because he wouldn't "pull the trigger". Yes there were two key drops, but the Ravens defense negated his awful interception so quickly everyone forgot about it. Had it turned in to any points people would have been screaming. He underthrew and overthrew a wide-open Smith twice. He made enough good throws to warrant a "B" to offset those and some other misjudgments, like scrambling for a saving first down, and clock management, but an "A"? No way Mike. It was the worst defense in the AFC and he should have engineered more points with an "A" rating and managed another shot or two in the last minute. His receivers let him down, but he left no margin for error.

Coaching should be a D. How don't you call a timeout when it is obvious that your FG unit is scrambling to get on the field? And if you honestly thought Evans might have made that catch call the timeout then and chastise the ref during the break. Maybe they would have looked at it. And while it wasn't a catch who knows what would have been called. Bert Jones never made it to the SB either...
