Carol Smith, nursing supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Towson, said today that Donovan was in stable condition.
"Mr. Donovan is a patient here and is in stable condition," Smith said.
Donovan was attending an invitation-only 50-year anniversary celebration of Peerce's Plantation, located in the 12400 block of Dulaney Valley Road, last night when he was stricken with chest pains shortly before 8 p.m.
A restaurant employee said about 200 people were having dinner at the time and that some of the celebrants included doctors. It was not immediately known if any doctors attended to Donovan before a medical unit from the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Co. arrived on the scene and transported him to the hospital.
A duty officer at the volunteer fire company said Donovan was conscious during the incident.
Donovan arrived at the hospital shortly before 8:30 p.m. and, following care in the emergency room, was admitted in stable condition.
