1. The Ravens have serious flaws, especially on the road.

( Donald Miralle, Getty Images / December 19, 2011 ) Sunday's loss to San Diego isn't the end of the world, but let's be honest about it. It's impressive that the Ravens are going to the playoffs for the fourth straight year, but they have serious flaws that keep showing up in road games. With home field advantage, it was easy to envision them in the Super Bowl. But now that they'll likely have to go on the road, it would be a surprise to see them make it all the way to Indianapolis.

For whatever reason, when the Ravens are on the road, they go quickly into pass happy mode which dooms them to failure. This obsession with the Ravens coaches of trying to highlight Joe Flacco over common sense play trips up the entire team. The truth is that Joe Flacco has some flaws that are exposed when he has to carry the load more than he is capable of. He has a slow release, poor pocket presence and too great a fear of the interception. Yet, he holds the ball until he fumbles it away. Poor decision making if you ask me. Whenever the Ravens use the run and pass in a strategic, balanced way, the Ravens win. When they don't we lose. Its true that the defense was pathetic Sunday, but the defense seems to get depressed when they see that the Ravens are going into their failed pass-happy mode which will never work because Joe Flacco is no Tom Brady, no Aaron Rodgers, no Drew Brees, no Ben Rothlisberger and surely no Peyton Manning. He is, who he is.....Joe Flacco. He's good for about two to three scores. After that, its a real struggle. Joe please stop trying to prove me wrong. You are hurting the team. Use Ray Rice more.
First and foremost Football is just entertainment. You (anyone not being paid by "your team") do not have to feel embarrassed, let down or even disappointed. Bragging about your teams success...eh, what did you do? Bemoaning their failure...eh how did you contribute? You only have a rooting interest in the Ravens. You can enjoy the high when the team wins, but just remember that like your favourite band or TV show, or a circus, it is JUST ENTERTAINMENT. You only have 16 to 19 weeks a year to watch.

Critique is one thing but, to write a scathing article about your home team who made it to the Play-offs for the 4th year in a row, is another. What's worse is the writer gloats on himself and writes of not being shocked by the Ravens' loss, because, "I predicted it, in fact." Worse still, he admits to having no faith in the team he is paid to write about. Referring again to this one loss, of only four during the Ravens' excellent season, he adds, "By now, watching Baltimore play this kind of game on the road is about what I would expect from them. This is who they are. They're flawed..." I would ask him to count the number of other NFL teams who would pray to one day have their own teams play as "flawed" as the Ravens have played this year. And I would point out to his superiors, at the Baltimore Sun, a bit of clarity this article offers to any fan reading it. His writing explain why most Baltimore sport's fans have turned away from this newpaper and now rely on local internet sport's writers, such as the more popular "Ravens 247" or "Baltimore Ravens Fans" for their sport's news. I would also like to thank the Baltimore Sun for adding the option to rate this article, at the top of the page. I rated it with the one star it deserves because our Ravens, this year, deserve much better coverage than your writer offers.
