Preps: Harbor Springs girls' golf team wins T.C. West Invitational

The Rams shot a 375 en route to capturing the 10-team Traverse City West Invitational Wednesday at Mistwood Golf Course.
Freeland placed second with a 385, while Traverse City West was third at 392 followed by T.C. Central, 393.
Senior Ellen Breighner was overall medalist as she shot 85, while teammate Abby Detmar also earned a top 10 medal as she shot 89.
Also for the Rams, Zoey Bezilla finished at 98, followed by Perry Bower, 103; Sadie Cwikiel, 111; and Leah Collie, 119.
Petoskey shot a 428 and placed fifth.
For the Northmen, Grace Howard shot a team-best 104, while Emily Kurburski shot 106, followed by Tai Miller, 108; Alena Chapdelaine, 110; and Ellie Hoch, 113.
“Alena (Chapdelaine) shot a personal best,” Petoskey coach Margie Graham said. “I’m excited about how the girls are planning out their shots and playing around the green.”
For the Petoskey JV, Pimpaka Pimklang shot 121, followed by Grace Kelbel, 140; and Reilly LaPriarie, 152.
East Jordan 20, T.C. Central 14
TRAVERSE CITY — Ryan Graham rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Donny Cutler added another TD as the Red Devils opened the season with win Wednesday at Thirlby Field.
Also for East Jordan, Trey Peterson threw a two-point conversion to Jake Skrocki.
Coach Greg Kitson lauded the effort of his offensive line including James Brown, Ryan LaVanway, Skyler Schuler, Bob Sherman, Dakoda Lauska, Thomas Brandell and Andrew Halbert.
St. Ignace 18, Charlevoix 13
CHARLEVOIX — Turner Havens scored on a 6-yard touchdown run and Forrest Noirot added a 4-yard TD run as the Rayders dropped their season opener Wednesday.
Also for Charlevoix, Hunter Cox kicked an extra point, while Noirot rushed for 68 yards and Malcolm Williams added 54 yards rushing, Havens finished with 24 yards rushing.
Defensively, Williams, Justin Adkins and Ben Boss had nine tackles apiece, while Alex Klieber had eight tackles and Cox added seven tackles.
