— The Petoskey High School wrestling team lost to Eaton Rapids, 38-20, in a Class B state semifinal. Ryan Kimball had the Northmen’s only pin, while Chris Johnecheck, Dan Glezman and Brian Whinnery each won by decision.
— Inland Lakes won its third consecutive Class D volleyball district title with a 15-7, 15-7 win over Johannesburg. The Bulldogs moved onto the regional round where they were to open against fifth-ranked Freesoil.
— Luke LeBlance scored 18 points to lead Charlevoix to a 74-45 Class C district win over Mancelona. East Jordan upset Boyne City, 53-50.
— Northern Lakes Conference winner Boyne Falls ran away from Vanderbilt, 67-41, during a Class D district game. Mark Reynolds and Gary Matelski scored eight points apiece for the Loggers.
— Harbor Light defeated Inland Lakes, 74-54, in a Class D district title game. Kevin Loe scored 18 points for the Swordsmen.

— Petoskey graduate Trevor Huffman was named to the All-Mid-American Conference basketball team for the second time, becoming the first Kent State player to accomplish the feat since 1988-89.
Huffman, a senior, scored 20 points in the MAC Tournament championship game, bringing his career total at the Ohio school to 1,724, a Kent career record.
— Harbor Springs grad Christi Shibata had seven points and five rebounds in 37 minutes in helping Kent State to an 83-73 win over Ohio in the MAC women’s tournament title game.
— Charlevoix rolled past Elk Rapids, 73-35, in a Class C boys’ basketball district game. Cole Andrews scored 20 points for Boyne City during a 50-44 win over East Jordan in the same district. Charlevoix exploded for a 110-63 win over the Ramblers in the district final, improving to 22-0. Jim Shepherd hit six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points to lead the Rayders, who were ranked second.
— Mackinaw won its second consecutive Class D district title with an 83-55 win over Alanson. Mike Teyson scored 28 points for the Comets.
— East Jordan seventh-grader Nathan Ciszewski won the American Motocross Disrict 14 championship in the 65cc division. Ciszewski placed 15th at the Motocross Winter Olympics in Florida.
— Tiffany Sloan Fischer, a Charlevoix grad, helped the Princeton University women’s ski team to a second place finish at the United States Collegiate Association Mid-Atlantic Region Championships.
