Senior Hope College forward Jason Muller was honored as the men’s soccer offensive player of the week for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Muller, a Petoskey grad, scored three goals, one a game-tying goal against Kalamazoo College and two more goals and one assist against Alma. Both games were MIAA wins for the Dutchmen.
Hope is 9-3-1 overall, 5-2 in league.
Muller has earned the honor for the second time this season, and third time during his collegiate career.
— Redshirt freshman runner Molly Jeakle placed 10th overall, finishing in 19 minutes 07.94 seconds for the Michigan State University women’s cross country team during the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships at Hillsdale College.
Jeakle, a Charlevoix graduate, ran a collegiate personal best during the championships to help the Spartan women to a second place finish.
— Sophomore setter Jenna Way had seven assists for the Ferris State University volleyball team during a three-set GLIAC win over Lake Erie (Ohio) College, 25-11, 25-15, 25-16.
Way, a Charlevoix graduate, has played in seven matches including 11 sets recording eight assists and six digs this season.
Ferris State is 13-4 overall, 8-1 in league.
— Joe Keedy, a 2010 Petoskey graduate, started for the Swarthmore College men’s soccer team during a 1-0 non-league loss to Stevens Institute (NJ) of Technology.
Keedy has started in 11 games for the Garnet and has scored two goals on 27 shots including 11 on goal and has one assist on the season.
Swarthmore is 6-1-4 overal, 2-0-2 in conference.
— Senior defender Rachel Gutowski had one assist for the Wilmington (Ohio) College women’s soccer team during an Ohio Athletic Conference win over Heidelberg (Ohio), 1-0.
Gutowski, a Petoskey graduate, has started in 13 games, leading the Quakers with five assists.
Wilmington is 8-4-1 overall, 2-1 in league.
— Senior cornerback Mike Vandermus had two solo tackles for the Albion College football team during a MIAA win, 41-27, over Trine (Ind.).
Vandermus, a Harbor Springs graduate, has 21 tackles including seven solo with one interception and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown for the Britons this season.
Albion is 3-2 overall, 1-0 in league.
— Senior midfielder K.C. McCary had two shots including one on goal for the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team during a GLIAC win, 1-0, in overtime over Northwood University.
