Kevin Thompson tossed a three-hitter in the nightcap Wednesday as the Petoskey Royals 19-under baseball earned a doubleheader split with Gaylord at Turcott Field.
Gaylord won the opener, 6-5, then Petoskey came back to claim the nightcap, 5-2.
Thompson struck out five and walked one. Hunter Keiswetter led the Royals with two hits and an RBI, while Blake Wagenschutz, Taylor Golding, Dillon Kelley and Hunter Stinger each singled.
Wagenchutz also picked up an RBI.
Thompson had two hits including a home run and drove in three runs to lead the Royals at the plate in game one.
Also for Petoskey, Tyler Romanick singled and doubled, Wagenschutz had two hits, Austin Panoff doubled, and Kelley, Mitch Smielewski and Stinger each singled.
Keiswetter took the loss in relief of Kelley.
Keiswetter allowed three hits and walked five over four innings.
Kelley allowed four hits over three innings.
The Royals play a doubleheader at Gaylord noon, Saturday, June 25.
