Menhaden hearing

Rocktober Tourney

Oct. 7: The Chesapeake Bay Kayak Anglers' "Rocktober Tourney" will be at Camp Wright on Kent Island. Benefits Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and CCA-Maryland.

Rod & Reef Slam

Oct. 7: The Anglers for Oyster Restoration' Rod & Reef Slam will be held from 6:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a party and awards from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lowes Wharf Marina Inn in Sherwood. Anglers will fish on three restored oyster reefs. Details:

Potomac tournament

Oct. 7: The first Potomac River Rockfish Tournament will be held at Aqualand Marina and Campground in Newburg. Winning fishermean will receive cash awards in the light tackle, trolling and kayak divisions. Proceeds will support Hope4Nichole, a nonprofit that provides breast cancer education and increased awareness while raising money to assist those affected by the disease.
