First bear of 2010 season
The first bear checked at Maryland's seventh annual hunt was shot by Leslie Nightingale, 39, a juvenile substance abuse counselor from Allegany County. The 234-pound bear was shot in Garrett County near the western shore of Deep Creek Lake.

love it! Leslie, you are a true hunter and lucky to get the chance as well. FYI, yes, there are too many bears in western Maryland, and yes, they are dangerous; and no, it's not easy to find one or kill it -- even with a big rifle. How stupid are those who mock the sport just because they somehow think firearms are evil demons or believe that all animals live in Fairyland with complete innocence, never preying on each other or being preyed upon. Please get out in the woods once in a while to enjoy the beautiful natural world.
