Ever since the July 24 announcement that Daniel Cormier would face Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title at UFC 178, the trash talk has been fast and furious. Just in the last three days, after Jones revealed he suffered a cut over his eye in training, Cormier took the opportunity to respond on Instagram:
“September 27th I’m gonna put so many of these on ur face @jonnybones. I can’t wait everyday I’m dreaming and thinking of you. And I’m gonna take u down and grind my elbow into that cut you got today. Put a bullseye on that thing. Some things should remain private. DC”
Well, on Monday, the trash talk got physical at media day in Las Vegas. During the traditional faceoff, Cormier shoved Jones, then Jones tried a punch in response, setting off a few seconds of action between the two fighters. The ensuing melee knocked over parts of the fighters’ staging area before Cormier was carried away by members of his entourage and Jones stood tall.

UFC 178 is scheduled for Sept. 27 on pay-per-view, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
UPDATE: Both fighters resumed their Twitter war just minutes after the fight according to Fansided.com, with Jones tweeting "Come on DC where was your takedown defense?" and Cormier responding, "I can't wait to beat u up. my goodness."
