Ray Drew picks Georgia as his big shocker

One of the top 10 high school football players in the country ended a week of speculation Friday by announcing that he is committing to the University of Georgia for his next level of play.

On Monday, Drew wrote on his Facebook page that he would "shock the world" with his announcement on Friday, but staying in his home state wasn't exactly a huge shocker.

The Thomasville, Ga., defensive end picked Georgia over Auburn, LSU, Miami and Clemson.

Also in that Monday Facebook post, Drew wrote,  "There will be a huge surprise on Friday . . . no auburn, no georgia, no lsu . . . time to shock the world baby!”

But he is indeed now a Georgia Bulldog.

During the press conference, Drew made note to point out what Georgia coach Mark Richt is calling this year's recruiting class at UGA, "The Dream Team," and he's hoping to lure some more talent.

"I just want to say, after the end of Jay's (Rome) announcement, I heard your call," Drew of the Valdosta, Ga., tight end. "Isaiah Crowell (Columbus, Ga., Carver running back), we're waiting on you. Antonio Richardson (Nashville Pear-cohn offensive lineman), we're waiting on you. John Jenkins (Mississippi Gulf Coast defensive tackle), we're waiting on you, and Jeoffrey Pagan (Asheville, N.C., defensive end), we're waiting on you.

"Come join what we have put together as the Dream Team. But remember, a dream is only a dream, until you make it a reality. I'm calling you out on this one. I hope you're not afraid to be thrown into the fire, I hope you're not afraid to be the ones who make the change."
