Bundy runs hitless inning streak to nine

The Orioles' top pitching prospect, right-hander Dylan Bundy, threw three hitless innings Tuesday in his home debut for Class-A Delmarva against Hagerstown.

In nine professional innings, Bundy has yet to allow a hit. He struck out three on the night, so he's tallied 15 strikeouts in nine innings.

Bundy allowed his first baserunner of the season — 27 batters into his pro career — with a two-out walk in the third inning.

The radio broadcast at Delmarva said Bundy hit 102 mph on the radar gun, but the Shorebirds Twitter account said Bundy was clocked at 98.

Wieters slam makes history

Wieters' 10th-inning grand slam in the Orioles' 10-4 comeback win over the White Sox on Monday was just the fifth extra-inning grand slam in club history over the past 50 years, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The others were by Brooks Robinson (July 7, 1970 vs. New York), Tommy Davis (July 27, 1975 at Milwaukee), Joe Nolan (August 24, 1982 vs. Toronto) and Harold Baines (May 4, 1999 vs. the White Sox).

Wieters' grand slam followed his eighth-inning solo homer, making Wieters the first Oriole to homer twice in a game in the eighth inning or later since August 23, 2005, when Miguel Tejada did it against the Angels. The last major leaguer to do it was Evan Longoria on September 28, 2011 against the Yankees, the night the Orioles knocked the Red Sox out of playoff contention, allowing the Rays to clinch a postseason spot.

Around the horn

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis entered Tuesday's game with three straight multi-hit games, including a season-high three on Saturday and Monday. He is batting .429 (12-for-28) with four doubles, a homer and four RBIs in his last seven games. He has eight hits in his last 12 at-bats with three doubles and a homer. … Wieters' two throwing errors Monday were a career high. Wieters committed just 16 errors in his first 367 major league games combined. … Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis struck out three times Monday, marking the 15th time — and first time nearly 20 months — in his 956 major league games that he has registered three strikeouts.
