The Norfolk Tides were two outs away from throwing a no-hitter against the Durham Bulls on Thursday night.
The Orioles' Triple-A affiliate held Durham hitless until the Bulls third baseman Matt Mangini singled to center off Tides reliever Jon Link with one out in the ninth in a 4-0 Norfolk win.
Norfolk starter Miguel Gonzalez continues his Triple-A dominance (1.50 ERA, 36 K and 10 H in 30 IP), throwing five innings of no-hit ball, striking out four and walking one. Newly signed left-handed reliever J.C. Romero threw a perfect sixth in his Tides debut, striking out two.
Eddie Gamboa tossed two hitless innings before giving way to Link in the ninth.
Lew Ford had three hits for Norfolk, including his first homer with the Tides, and Miguel Tejada and Jamie Hoffmann had two hits apiece. Tejada is 4-for-10 in three games with Norfolk.
