Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (pictured) was on his way to his second strong performance in a row when he grabbed at his side and exited Sunday's game with a right oblique strain. That's very bad news for a team that already has called on four Triple-A starters to fill in the fifth slot in the rotation and replace injured Miguel Gonzalez. It was a tough week already, after so-so outings by Jason Hammel, Freddy Garcia and Steve Johnson, and that was reflected in the combined numbers. The rotation posted a 2-2 record with a 6.03 ERA and averaged just five innings per start. Even though the team managed to go 4-2 in those games, this is starting to get scary.

Orioles third-round pick, high-school shortstop Adrian Marin, has tweeted that he has signed a deal with the Orioles. He also posted a picture of him signing a contract.
Marin, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound infielder out of Gulliver Prep School in Miami, was the 99th pick overall in this week’s draft.
Orioles scouting director Gary Rajsich told the Sun earlier on Thursday that he thought Marin was eager to sign even though he had a commitment to play at the University of Miami.
“He’s got a live body, an athletic, five tool player. He has a chance to be very exciting,” Rajsich said of Marin. “He has a very good chance to stay in the middle of the field.”
Rajsich said that physicals for any potentially signed draftees would be set up for Monday.
Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the allotted slot for the 99th pick is $481,100, according to Baseball America. The Orioles could go higher or lower than that suggested number, but ultimately they cannot exceed an overall pool for their top 10 players of $6,826,900 without paying a tax and potentially losing draft picks.
