Steve Clevenger's agent tweets that O's have summoned catcher from Norfolk

Looks like the Orioles will make another move today.

The agent for catcher Steve Clevenger tweeted this morning that his client was headed back to Baltimore to join the Orioles.

Clevenger has been raking at Triple-A, hitting .328 in 36 games, so in one sense this isn’t a surprise.

However, Clevenger played in one of the Tides’ games in Friday’s doubleheader and Norfolk has a doubleheader again today. So losing a catcher can’t be ideal for the Tides.

Plus, the Orioles only have two more games remaining before the All-Star break.

So the timing is strange. And it makes you wonder whether Caleb Joseph is injured. He didn’t play Friday after banging his foot/leg against the brick wall behind home plate while catching a foul in Thursday’s game.

And manager Buck Showalter didn’t pinch hit for Nick Hundley in the 10th on Friday night –- something the manager said was numbers-related. But if Joseph wasn’t available, that move makes been more sense (Hundley came through with the game-winning hit anyway).

The Orioles have a move to make with Ubaldo Jimenez going on the disabled list, but that corresponding transaction has to be Kevin Gausman being recalled (he has to replace a DL player to get back within 10 days of being sent down).

So check back for updates.
