A group headed by Peter Angelos took ownership of the Orioles on Aug. 2, less than a month after Baltimore hosted the All-Star Game for the first time since 1958. The Orioles went 38-36 in the second half of the season and finished 10 games behind eventual World Series Champion Toronto in the American League East.
