The Orioles will play the Houston Astros in the 2014 Civil Rights Game at Minute Maid Park on May 30, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

The Civil Rights Game and a series of additional events that week will honor those who fought on and off the field for equal rights. The game will be televised on MLB Network.

Other events include: a May 29 roundtable discussion about the role baseball played in the civil rights movement and the sport’s current role as a social institution; the MLB Beacon Awards luncheon on May 30; and a youth baseball and softball clinic on a date to be determined.

Former Orioles outfielder and manager Frank Robinson, a Hall of Famer and current MLB executive vice president of baseball development, attended the announcement Tuesday at Minute Maid Park.

The Civil Rights Game has been played every season since 2007. Last year, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers, 3-2, at U.S. Cellular Field.
