The right-hander allowed eight hits, two walks and five runs in 3 2/3 innings on Friday against the Cleveland Indians.
It just continued an ugly trend for the Orioles.
In their past four games, their starters have lasted a total of 18 1/3 innings, allowing 35 hits, 8 walks and 24 earned runs. That’s an 11.78 ERA.
Arrieta had had two quality starts in his last three and was one grand slam away in New York from having three of three.
But Friday was a disaster for Arrieta, compounded by – you guessed it – shoddy O’s defense.
Arrieta’s ERA jumps from 5.55 to 5.81.
