Orioles players, all wearing No. 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, celebrate after the club's 3-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards. (Kenneth K. Lam, Baltimore Sun /April 16, 2014)
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Orioles second baseman Alexi Casilla will not make the trip back Baltimore with the team tonight as he is at a local hospital this evening.
His head collided with Nick Markakis’ thigh while they were converging for a bloop in shallow right in the seventh. Casilla was later taken out of the game due to concussion symptoms.
He’ll return to Baltimore once the specific concussion diagnosis is determined.
The clubhouse was exceptionally somber after the game – more so about the injuries to Manny Machado and Casilla than the walkoff loss to the Rays.
