Casilla, 29, played in 62 games with the Orioles last year, hitting .214 with a .268 on-base percentage and a .295 slugging percentage. Claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins in November 2012, Casilla played 51 games at second base and two at shortstop.
His season ended Sept. 23 on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays when he collided with right fielder Nick Markakis while trying to catch a shallow fly ball. Casilla left with a concussion that game, which was the same game that third baseman Manny Machado injured his knee running to first base.
The Orioles could have picked up Casilla’s $3 million option for 2014 but instead bought it out in November for $200,000.
