Just more than two hours from the scheduled game time from tonight's Orioles game against the Yankees, the tarp is on the infield here at Camden Yards and the rain is still coming down, a bad omen for getting tonight's game in.
Well know a little more after a 6 p.m. meeting between representatives of both teams, the umpires and the grounds crew.
If we are able to play tonight, 22-year-old Xavier Avery will make his second major league start tonight after making his debut yesterday. Right-hander Jason Hammel (4-1, 2.09 ERA), whose last start was pushed back because of right-knee soreness, will make tonight's start.

Some pregame notes:
-- Orioles minor leaguer Billy Rowell has been suspended 50 games for a second violation of the minor league drug prevention and treatment program for a drug of abuse. Rowell, who received a $2.1 million signing bonus after becoming the club's first-round draft pick in 2006, had been in Sarasota attempting to become a pitcher after six seasons as an infielder/outfielder in which he batted a collective .261 and never played above Double-A Bowie. He's the third Orioles minor leaguer to be suspended for the same offense this year. For more on this story, click HERE.
-- The bulging disk in leftfielder Nolan Reimold's neck still doesn't seem to be improving after an epidural Friday, so the team is considering Reimold continuing a series of three shots. That could shelve him for another two weeks.
-- Showalter said that, barring a rainout, right-hander Tommy Hunter is scheduled to start Wednesday's game at Kansas City, which means that left-hander Dana Eveland will move to the bullpen. Eveland has had two days off since starting Friday, so he will be available today.
-- An MRI on right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom's middle finger will likely be read by the end of the day. He could go to Sarasota to begin rehab with outfielder Endy Chavez and infielder Mark Reynolds.
-- Norfolk right-hander Joel Pineiro missed his last start with the Tides Sunday with shoulder soreness, Showalter said.
