Amid all the buzz about Adam Jones' possible contract extension today, there's still a game tonight at Camden Yards. The Orioles are hosting the Royals for the first game of this weekend's three-game series.
There's still very little that's official regarding Jones, but expect something to happen soon.
Anyway, here's what's going on.
-- Infielder Mark Reynolds (oblique strain) and outfielder Endy Chavez (intercostal strain) played in an extended spring training game today and will report to Double-A Bowie to begin minor league rehab assignments tomorrow. They will play for the Baysox tomorrow and Sunday, then be re-evalutated. It's possible that the two join the team early next week in Toronto.
-- More about Bowie. Brian Roberts is slated to be the DH tonight. He's scheduled to have a day off tomorrow. But no worries, left-hander Zach Britton will make his first rehab start tomorrow. Add Reynolds and Chavez and there's some major big league power playing for the Baysox tomorrow. Also, Dylan Bundy will be making his first start tomorrow with High-A Frederick.
-- Reliever Matt Lindstrom (middle finger tendon) is slated to report to Sarasota, Fla., in the next few days to begin rehab.
-- As was announced earlier, reliever Stu Pomeranz and catcher Ronny Paulino were recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, catcher Luis Exposito was optioned to Norfolk and infielder Bill Hall was designated for assignment. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said the team planned all along to recall Pomeranz once his minimum 10 days were up. Showalter said the club wants to see Exposito catch 4-5 times a week in Triple-A.
-- Catcher Taylor Teagarden received the same evaluation from the second opinion he got on his ailing back from a back specialist in Dallas, so he's returning to Sarasota to resume rehab.
Here are the lineups:
