Orioles pregame: Updates on Britton, Roberts, Reimold, Lindstrom plus lineups

The Orioles return home from their five-game roadtrip, in which they went 4-1, for a three-game series against the Red Sox. It's Boston's first trip to Camden Yards this season.

There was plenty going on during pregame:

-- Second baseman Brian Roberts spoke to reporters today. Not much more news from when I talked to him in Kansas City on the one-year anniversary of the last game on Wednesday, but Roberts did say when he's ready to play in a game, he sees himself going directly into a minor-league rehab assignment instead of going to extended spring training in Sarasota. That assignment would likely take place at either Bowie or Frederick. Roberts said he wants to make sure he isn't limited to DH but also plays the field. There's still no definitive timetable on his return, but I could see him beginning a rehab assignment by the time the Orioles head out on a three-city, nine-game roadtrip a week from today.

-- Right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom says he's pain free from a partial ligament tear from right middle finger, but he has yet to throw. It's likely he won't be ready to come off the DL when he's eligible on Saturday.

-- Left fielder Nolan Reimold is seeing team doctors today to re-evaluate the bulging disk in his neck. He's still feels symptoms from the injury, so it's likely he's heading toward receiving a second epidural.

-- Left-hander Zach Britton threw five innings (69 pitches) in an extended spring game today, then threw 10 more in the bullpen. The next step in his recovery from left-shoulder inflammation will be decided after his work day on Wednesday. It looks like he's head to a minor-league rehab assignment.

-- Also, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said injured catcher Taylor Teagarden is improving from his lower back injury, but he's going to receive a second opinion from back specialist Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas.
