The rain is coming down here at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and the tarp is on the infield. We're not sure we're going to get tonight's series opener against the Pirates in, but there's still plenty of news coming from the Orioles clubhouse.

-- Brian Roberts is back and is in the starting lineup hitting leadoff and playing second base. Corresponding 25-man and 40-man moves haven't been made yet because of the possibility of rainout.

-- Just moments ago, left-hander Brian Matusz bunted a ball off his nose during pitcher's batting practice. The severity of the injury is still unknown, but Matusz was bleeding from his nose and it was very swollen. His scheduled start tomorrow is in question. If he can't start, left-handed reliever Dana Eveland could take his spot. Or.... right-hander Jake Arrieta, sent to the pen after his last start, could pitch on regular rest.

-- Nolan Reimold has yet to resume baseball activity, so he's a likely candidate to be transferred to the 60-day disabled list in order to make room for Roberts on the 40-man roster. He is returning to Baltimore to get a second MRI to see why he hasn't continued to progress from a bulging disk in his neck. He's pain free now, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said, but he still has some tingling in his arm and hasn't been able to regain his strength. His last game was April 30.

-- Rightfielder Nick Markakis had stitches removed from his right wrist. He had surgery to remove the fractured hamate bone hook from his wrist on June 1.

-- With Roberts in the lineup, Robert Andino isn't starting today. Showalter said he wants to give Andino, who has been the team's everyday second baseman in Roberts' absence, a break. He will be used in a utility role, playing second, short and third, and Showalter spoke with Andino today about the possibility of trying the outfield. Andino's batting average has dropped 42 points in the past month from .286 to .243.

-- The Orioles till haven't announced a starting pitcher for Thursday game. Right-hander Tommy Hunter would be in line, but Hunter said he hadn't been told he's pitching that day. He did have a bullpen session scheduled for today.

-- Right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom, who is on the DL with a partially torn tendon in his middle finger, is throwing off a flat mound today in Sarasota.
