Not a lot of stuff here early on Sunday.
Here are some highlights:
Taylor Teagarden had no problems with his eight innings behind the plate at Norfolk on Saturday. He is batting third and serving as the designated hitter today for the Tides.
If all goes well – and he has no setbacks with his dislocated left thumb – Teagarden could be back with the big league club Tuesday in Houston, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. Showalter wouldn’t commit to it, though.
Also on Tuesday in Houston, Pedro Strop (lower back strain) will be throwing a simulated game. He is eligible to come off the disabled list on June 8.
No official decision has been made on whether Nolan Reimold (right hamstring) will go with the team on the road, but it’s likely he won’t. If feels close to returning he could go on a rehab assignment next week.
Wei Yin-Chen (oblique strain) has now been out three weeks. He hasn’t pitched yet, but Showalter would not rule out a return by mid-June for the lefty – although that seems optimistic.
Here are Sunday’s lineups:
Detroit: Dirks 7, Hunter 9, Cabrera 5, Fielder 3, Martinez DH, Peralta 6, Avila 2, Santiago 4, Garcia 8. Porcello 1.
Orioles: McLouth 7, Machado 5, Markakis 9, Jones 8, Davis 3, Dickerson DH, Hardy 6, Flaherty 4, Snyder 2. Gausman 1.
