Just a side note, the Orioles did not file a protest for Friday’s game after a reversed call led to manager Buck Showalter’s ejection, according to a club official. From what I heard, the club considered it, but decided against it since the call really didn’t impact the game.
Not much from Showalter before today’s game. As we know, left-hander Wei-Yin Chen is scheduled to make a rehab start Saturday after throwing a four-inning sim game in Sarasota tomorrow. He will join the team Tuesday and have his work day in Baltimore before being dispatched to one of the team’s affilliates.
Chen might only need one start – he will go five innings Saturday – before he returns. The Orioles hope he can make one of two starts with the big league club before the all-star break.
The Rogers Centre roof is open this afternoon and they’re expecting a big crowd today. I’ve got to say, this dome was the loudest I’ve ever heard it yesterday when 43,261 packed the stadium. Yesterday, there were fans in parts of the outfield upper deck where I’ve never seen anyone sit.
That’s what happens when you’ve won 10 straight.
Here are today’s starting lineups:
Orioles: McLouth 7,Machado 5, Markakis 9, Jones 8, Davis 3, Wieters 2, Hardy 6, Dickerson DH, Flaherty 4, Garcia 1
Blue Jays: Cabrera 7, Bautista 9, Encarnacion DH, Lind 3, Rasmus 8, Arencibia 2, Izturis 5, Bonifacio 4, Kawasaki 6, Johnson 1.
