Right-hander Dylan Bundy, the Orioles’ top prospect, will continue the progression in his throwing program as he returns from right forearm and elbow stiffness that has sidelined him this spring.
Bundy is scheduled to do two sessions of 25 throws from 90 feet on flat ground Monday at the Orioles’ spring training facility in Sarasota, Fla.
Bundy hasn’t appeared in a regular season game at any level this spring. Last year, Bundy was 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 starts during time at Low-A Delmarva, High-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie. He was a September call-up to the Orioles and pitched 1 2/3 innings.
Dr. James Andrews cleared Bundy to resume throwing earlier this month, and he threw for the first time June 10, six weeks after the pitcher received a platelet-rich plasma injection on April 29.
Bundy has been working out in Sarasota all spring. There’s no timetable on his return as he advances through the throwing progression. He hasn’t thrown off a mound since late March.
** Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen’s rehab schedule has been laid out. He felt fine after throwing from a mound for the first time Saturday. Chen has missed a month with an oblique injury.
** Right-hander Steve Johnson (oblique) continued to make “mild improvements,” Showalter said.
** Infielder Jonathan Schoop (back) has begun throwing and jogging in the pool. Schoop is the organization’s No. 2 prospect according to Baseball America.
** Outfielder Nolan Reimold will report to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday for his rehab assignment.
