BOSTON – Fenway Park was emptied, cleaned and reopened in a matter of about an hour and a half for the nightcap of today’s Orioles doubleheader in Boston.
In between, right-hander Bud Norris threw a two-inning simulated game to test his right groin. Norris pitched to Orioles coaches Wayne Kirby and Einar Diaz as well as vice president of baseball operations Brady Anderson.
Between innings, Norris walked off the field and into the dugout to simulate a game inning.
He is a candidate to fill the Orioles’ starting spot Wednesday against the Washington Nationals at Camden Yards.
Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez will start tonight against the Red Sox. He is 1-3 with a 9.31 ERA in six career starts against Boston.
Manny Machado is back in the starting lineup, his five-game suspension now completed. He is starting at third base and batting seventh.
Red Sox starter John Lackey is 14-6 all time against the Orioles, but was roughed up for a season-high 10 hits and six runs by the Orioles on April 18 at Fenway Park.
