Orioles planning another visit to scout Cespedes

The Orioles are still interested in outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and want another look at the highly touted Cuban defector.

The Orioles weren't able to scout Cespedes at last week's Carribean Series because his Dominican Winter League team didn't make the series field, but the organization plans to scout him again soon.

Orioles executive director of international scouting Fred Ferreira said the club is planning a trip to the Dominican Republic to watch Cespedes within the "next week to 10 days." The Orioles have scouted Cespedes at least twice already.

As of now, there doesn't seem to be a rush. Cespedes has been granted Dominican residency and Major League Baseball has granted him free-agent status, but he's still awaiting an unblocking license from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control before he can sign with a club.

"We're kind of in a wait-and-see process now," Ferreira said.

There are reports that Cespedes' agent, Adam Katz, has brought Cespedes to Miami today so his client could begin meeting with teams. Katz has said he is "reasonably confident" his client should be signed by the beginning of spring training.
