CAPTIONS
Starting rotation
Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (pictured) was on his way to his second strong performance in a row when he grabbed at his side and exited Sunday's game with a right oblique strain. That's very bad news for a team that already has called on four Triple-A starters to fill in the fifth slot in the rotation and replace injured Miguel Gonzalez. It was a tough week already, after so-so outings by Jason Hammel, Freddy Garcia and Steve Johnson, and that was reflected in the combined numbers. The rotation posted a 2-2 record with a 6.03 ERA and averaged just five innings per start. Even though the team managed to go 4-2 in those games, this is starting to get scary.

The Orioles officially announced Tuesday that they've signed Cuban defector Henry Urrutia to a minor-league contract.
The 25-year-old outfielder will be assigned to the organization's Double-A club in Bowie after reporting to the Orioles' spring training complex in Sarasota.
Urrutia didn't play professionally last season because he was suspended after an unsuccessful defection attempt from Cuba, but he hit .350 (394-for-1127) over five seasons with Las Tunas of the Cuban League from 2006 to '10.
He had his best season in 2010 with Las Tunas, when he set career highs with a .397 batting average, .461 on-base percentage, .597 slugging percentage, 121 hits, 23 doubles, 12 homers and 76 RBIs. He also represented Cuba in the 2010 World Championships.
Upon defecting from Cuba, he established residency in Haiti, making him an international free agent.
