SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles will play their second straight night road game tonight when they travel to Fort Myers to play the Twins.
Players who won’t make the trip will have a morning workout, which was scheduled a little later in the morning since the travel squad didn't return from Tuesday night's game against the Yankees in Tampa until late.
Left-hander Johan Santana is here for his first official day in Orioles camp. He will be available for to the media this afternoon following the workout.
A few items of note:
-- South Korean pitcher Suk-min Yoon is scheduled to fly to Canada on Sunday and has an interview appointment to obtain his work visa in Ottawa on Monday morning. Processing could take a few days, but Yoon can’t pitch in a Grapefruit League game until he gets his visa. Yoon can be sent to the minor leagues to open the season if he’s not ready.
-- Right-hander Darren O’Day will try out some changeups today in his bullpen session. Former Orioles submarine pitcher Todd Frohwirth, who is a major league scout in the organization, is in town this week to help O’Day work on his changeup. O’Day didn’t threw exclusively fastballs in his outing Monday and has rarely thrown the changeup in a game, but developing a third pitch could help him greatly.
--Pitching prospect Kevin Gausman is trying out a new pair of prescription glasses to help his vision. He’s had some issues with contacts in the past and rarely pitches with them in.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
