Orioles outfield prospect Josh Hart out 4-6 weeks with torn meniscus

Orioles prospect Josh Hart will be out four-to-six weeks due to a torn meniscus in his right knee, Orioles director of player development Brian Graham said Friday.

Hart, who is playing in Class-A Delmarva, injured his knee on the opening play of Monday’s second game against Hagerstown, when Hart and right-fielder Mike Yastrzemski chased down a triple in right-center. Graham said Hart’s spike was caught in the ground on the play, and Hart heard a pop in his knee.

Hart took his at-bat the second inning, when he fanned on an inside slider, and was replaced in the next half-inning.

Graham said Hart would undergo arthroscopic surgery, but was expected to be fully healthy in four-to-six weeks.

Hart, the 37th overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft, was batting .266/.301/.273 with one double and 15 RBI in 41 games before the injury.
