“My elbow and overall body-wise and conditioning-wise, I do feel stronger,’’ he said. “As time goes by, I’m going to be able to swing my arm faster. It’s gradually getting stronger day by day.”
Wada is trying to come back from Tommy John surgery nine months ago. The Orioles have been very conservative in projecting his return and continue to point toward June, though he seems to be on pace to pitch a little sooner than that.
Once the club’s rehab staff is satisfied with the bullpen work, the next step would likely be a simulated game situation, but Wada doesn’t know when that might happen.
“It’s the first time I’m going through rehab like this,’’ he said. “I haven’t thrown a breaking ball yet so I’m not sure when the breaking ball is going to be.”
