Chris Tillman on the mound as Orioles face Pirates

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles will make their first trip of the spring to McKechnie Field this afternoon to face the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Chris Tillman is scheduled to start for the Orioles and could go four innings. T.J. McFarland and Ryan Webb are also scheduled to pitch.

Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez is still on pace to start Tuesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Ed Smith Stadium. Left-hander Brian Matusz will also pitch in that game. Both are expected to go three innings.

Among the minor league players the Orioles are bringing to face the Pirates in Bradenton are first baseman Chad Tracy, infielder Buck Britton, infielder Garabez Rosa, outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang, left-hander Jacob Pettit and right-hander Tyler Wilson.

The Orioles made three roster cuts today, optioning catcher Michael Ohlman and left-hander Tim Berry to Double-A Bowie while reassigning catcher Brian Ward to minor league camp.
