Orioles left-hander Dana Eveland allowed three runs on six hits over four innings of work in today’s road Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays.
Eveland, still conceivably in the competition for the Orioles’ starting rotation, allowed three doubles in the game, including a two-run double by Eric Thames that put the Blue Jays up 3-2 in the third inning. Colby Rasmus also plated a run with an RBI ground out.
The Orioles scored their two runs on Ryan Flaherty’s two-run single in the third. Flaherty, who is trying to lock up the team’s utility position on the roster, now has 10 RBIs this spring, second to Adam Jones’ 11.
As the Orioles head to the bottom of the fifth, right-hander Alfredo Simon -- another rotation contender -- has replaced Eveland. Simon hasn’t pitched since March 18, when he left his starting outing with a groin injury.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
