Orioles' Chris Dickerson homers in first two at-bats against Yankees

Chris Dickerson received the start in center field Tuesday night against the Yankees, and through his first two at-bats, he’s making the most out of the opportunity.

Dickerson has hit two solo homers off Yankees starter Phil Hughes for his first multi-homer game of his major league career.

Dickerson spent the past two seasons with the Yankees, hitting just three homers in a 64 at-bats. Now he has three homers -- all in his past three starts -- in 33 at bats with the Orioles this season

In the third inning, Dickerson took a 3-2 fastball over the outer half of the plate into the center field bleachers.

Dickerson then turned on a 1-1 fastball in the fifth, launching it on to the flag court above the right-field scoreboard.

The 31-year-old Dickerson has five RBIs in his last three starts. He also had a pinch-hit single in the eighth inning Monday, the Orioles' first pinch-hit of the year in 12 at-bats.

Dickerson was making the start in center so Orioles manager Buck Showalter could put Adam Jones at designated hitter after Jones tweaked his right leg running the bases on Monday night.

The Orioles and Yankees are tied 2-2 heading into the sixth inning.
