Last Thursday, the Orioles signed left-hander Brian Gonzalez (third round), and right-handers Patrick Connaughton (fourth round) and David Hess (fifth round), their top three picks in this year's draft.

Gonzalez, Connaughton and Hess will start the season with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Orioles, who open their season against the Tampa Bay Rays affiliate at noon Friday.

Connaughton plans to return to Notre Dame for his senior season of basketball before rejoining the Orioles organization in the spring.
