Meek, 30, spent five years with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2008 to 2012, going 7-7 with a 3.34 ERA in 156 relief appearances. His best season came in 2010, when he was 5-4 with a 2.14 ERA, 15 holds and four saves in 80 relief innings.
Meek pitched the entire 2013 season with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock. He was 6-9 with a 4.50 ERA overall last year.
Even though he spent his entire major league career as a reliever, Meek moved into the starting rotation for Round Rock in June. After making 18 appearances from the bullpen, he was 6-6 with a 4.40 ERA and recorded seven quality starts in 15 starts for Round Rock.
With the addition of Meek, the Orioles will now have 31 pitchers in major league camp when pitchers and catchers report next week.
