Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold's sore throwing shoulder progressing

Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold, who left Friday’s game against the Pirates after just two innings with a sore right shoulder, said his throwing shoulder is feeling better.

Showalter said he hopes to have Reimold DH on Tuesday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin.

Reimold said he hasn’t hit since the injury and has given his whole upper body time off. He’s optimistic he can return to the lineup Tuesday following Monday’s off day.

“I had a lot of time off,” Reimold said. “I had neck surgery. Everybody’s got their kinks to work out, myself included, so it’s just a kink I’ve got to work out. If I’m doing something incorrect or my body’s not responding the right way, it’s better to get ahead of it and fix it and go on from there than keep playing and letting it get worse. … I’ll be fine.”

Around the horn: Conor Jackson hit two homers and drove in four runs in the Orioles’ 12-3 win over the Phillies. The Orioles hit four homers, including a three-run shot by Matt Wieters (five RBIs) in the first inning. … Catcher Taylor Teagarden (back stiffness) continues to receive treatment and is listed as day to day. … Brian Matusz, Tommy Hunter and T.J. McFarland — all rotation candidates who could also be used as relievers — will continue to get starter innings until the middle of the month. … Relievers Jim Johnson and Darren O’Day threw side sessions on the back fields. They are scheduled to make their spring debuts Wednesday against Spain’s WBC team. … Jake Arrieta and Zach Britton are scheduled to pitch in the Orioles' exhibition game against the Spain. … Jason Hammel will make his next start Thursday against the Blue Jays and Wei-Yin Chen is slated to start Friday's game against the Pirates. Showalter hasn't decided specific starters for Saturday and Sunday, but Tillman will start one game and Miguel Gonzalez will start the other. … Nate McLouth started in center Sunday, replacing Adam Jones (who has left for the WBC), but Showalter said he will explore several options there, including Chris Dickerson, Lew Ford and Trayvon Robinson in Jones’ absence. … Reliever Pedro Strop threw a perfect relief inning Sunday before departing to join the Dominican WBC team in Tampa, where they will play an exhibition against the Yankees before going to play first-round games in Puerto Rico. … Left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada (Tommy John surgery) will pitch a third session off a full mound Wednesday.
