No talks between Orioles, free-agent RHP Brett Myers

The Orioles and representatives for free agent right-handed pitcher Brett Myers have not had any conversations since the groups arrived in Nashville on Sunday night and no meetings have been set up at this point.

If the Orioles have any interest in Myers, as was reported Sunday by FoxSports.com, it would be considered minimal and preliminary, the source said.

That could change as the market develops, but at this point the 32-year-old Myers does not seem to be a priority for the Orioles.

Myers pitched in 70 games in relief last year for the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros, for whom he started the season as closer. Myers has been a starter most of his career, and would be interested in returning to that role.

The Orioles don’t appear to be focusing on starting pitching – with the possible exception of re-signing Joe Saunders – as they look for a power bat. But Dan Duquette has not ruled out the possibility of bolstering his pitching staff.

Myers is 97-93 with a 4.20 ERA in 377 big league games.
