No changes in Orioles starting rotation for series vs. New York Yankees

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Orioles' starting rotation will remain in turn for this weekend's series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

Showalter had an opportunity to tweak his rotation after Thursday’s day off, but right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez is expected to start Friday as scheduled, followed by right-hander Bud Norris on Saturday and right-hander Chris Tillman on Sunday. All three will pitch with two extra days of rest.

That could change, however, with the Orioles down to six relievers after designating Stinson for assignment.

“We will stay on turn,” Showalter said. “That could change in the next couple nights, we’ll see. I don't know how long we’d be able to stay six in the ‘pen. We could use one of the starters in the ‘pen, too. We’ll see.”

Showalter said he would like to stay with six starters until the Orioles play a doubleheader June 27 against Tampa Bay at Camden Yards.

“We are going to need another pitcher for that day anyway,” Showalter said. “So that makes it six, I got it.”

Showalter said that right-hander Kevin Gausman, who has allowed two runs over 13 innings in two starts since being recalled from Norfolk, likely will be evaluated on a start-by-start basis. Gausman will start the series finale Wednesday against the Rays.
