MINNEAPOLIS – Right-hander Brad Brach is here in Minnesota and will be available if needed Friday night.
Brach arrived at Target Field around 3:40 p.m. local time.
He didn’t get the call that he was being promoted to the big leagues until about 2 a.m. in Norfolk, then had to go back to Harbor Park to pick up his equipment. He didn’t get to sleep until 4 a.m. and had a cab to the airport scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
But considering that some Orioles players and coached said they didn’t get to bed until 6 a.m. local time, Brach wasn’t going to complain about not getting enough sleep.
“It sounds like I got a little more sleep than everyone else here,” Brach said. “It was still a short night. It was great. I had two flights and I was able to sleep on both of them.”
Brach said he thought the Orioles would need a reliever following last night’s doubleheader.
“Anytime you have a doubleheader and you see four or five guy throwing in both games you think there’s probably a chance of someone going up,” Brach said. “You just never know until you get the phone call who it is. After it got past 1 o’clock, I thought, 'OK, maybe it’s someone else.' But then at 2 o’clock I got the phone call. It was good to see."
