Miguel Gonzalez threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings for Double-A Bowie against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday night in an injury rehabilitation start as the right-hander recovers from a strained right oblique.
Gonzalez, who is eligible to return to the Orioles from the 15-day disabled list Sunday, allowed four hits and struck out five batters on 70 pitches (45 strikes). He was pulled after striking out the leadoff batter in the fifth inning.
A wild pitch and a walk helped the Fisher Cats load the bases with two outs in the second, but Gonzalez induced a groundout to escape the inning unscathed. He also worked around leadoff singles by Melky Mesa in the first and third innings.
After Mesa’s second hit, Gonzalez retired the last seven batters he faced.
Manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Gonzalez will start for the club Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. He is 3-4 with a 4.17 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) with the Orioles this year.
