BIO: Orioles first baseman Chris Davis has captured the imagination of baseball fans in Baltimore and around the country with his potentially historic home-run pace. But Davis’ road to stardom was hardly smooth or straight.

Once a top prospect for the Texas, Rangers, the team he grew up cheering, Davis spent years shuffling between the majors and minors, unable to secure a steady job despite his prodigious power. He hit a career low when the Rangers left him off their playoff roster in 2010.
