Lots of roster stuff from the Orioles today.

Right-hander Kevin Gausman is in Baltimore and will start Saturday’s game against the Oakland Athletics. He will make his second start of the season for the Orioles, and it will be against another recent first-rounder, the Athletics’ Sonny Gray.

Gausman, the club’s first-round pick (fourth overall) in 2012, is getting the call because righty Miguel Gonzalez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. Gonzalez will pitch one game at a minor league affilaite, either Double-A Bowie or High-A Frederick, at some point next week, and could return to the Orioles to pitch between June 15 annd June 17, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

The move with Gonzalez is retroactive to May 31.

To give the Orioles more options in the bullpen after Thursday’s short start by Chris Tillman, the club optioned reliever Preston Guilmet to Triple-A Norfolk and selected the contract of right-handed reliever Evan Meek, now in his third stint with the Orioles. He’ll be available out of the bullpen tonight.

So will 23-year-old lefty Tim Berry, who was recalled from Bowie. Berry, a 50th-round pick in 2009 who was added to the 40-man roster last winter, would make his big league debut if he gets into a game. He hasn’t pitched above Bowie.

Berry’s time is expected to be short-lived. Showalter said that if everything goes as planned, Berry will be sent back to the minors when Gausman is activated Saturday.

Also, Tommy Hunter (groin) is expected to pitch at Low-A Delmarva on Saturday, and he could be activated on Sunday.

To make room for Meek on the 40-man roster, the Orioles moved Michael Almanzar (knee) to the 60-day disabled list.

Also, lefty Johan Santana left an extended spring training game after he was struck with a line drive and hurt his Achilles while retrieving the ball. He is being examined in Sarasota, Fla.
