Four members of from short-season Single-A Aberdeen have been selected to play in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game.
Outfielder Lucas Herbst, shortstop Joel Hutter, first baseman Christian Walker and catcher Sam Kimmel -- all members of this year's draft class -- will represent the IronBirds and the American League in the game Tuesday at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio.
Herbst was drafted by the Orioles in the 26th round out of Santa Clara University. He leads the IronBirds with a .476 slugging percentage and is tied for team-lead with four triples. The Monterrey, Calif., native is currently on a nine-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.
Hutter (10th round; Dallas Baptist University) leads the IronBirds in batting (.311), hits (47), and doubles (11). Hutter’s batting average is ninth-best in the New York-Penn League. The Davenport, Iowa, native is currently on a 10-game hitting streak and has reached base in 20 consecutive games.
Walker (4th round; South Carolina) is hitting .284 with five doubles, two home runs, and nine RBIs. The Limerick, Pa., native joined Aberdeen after leading South Carolina to three straight College World Series appearanes and two national titles.
Kimmel (18th round; Stetson) is batting .274 with 10 RBIs, 11 runs and seven stolen bases.
