SARASOTA, Fla. – With minor league spring training games starting today, Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold will begin making trips to the Twin Lakes Park complex for at-bats there.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Reimold can have around 10 at-bats each day by going from field to field at the complex’s cloverleaf as a designated hitter.

There’s no concern with Reimold, Showalter said, but the purpose is for the 30-year-old outfielder to get more plate appearances since he has been injured for a majority of the past two seasons.

Other notes:

-- Outfielder Francisco Peguero has a right wrist sprain and isn’t available today. The injury started about four to five days ago, and he is considered day-to-day, Showalter said.

-- Left-hander Brian Matusz was scheduled to pitch three innings today, but he might not be able to play because he had an allergic reaction to peanuts. Matusz has a severe allergy to peanuts that triggers his asthma.

-- Center fielder Adam Jones is participating in pregame batting practice, but he has a 2 p.m. flight out of Sarasota back to Baltimore for the birth of his first child.

-- Utility infielder Alexi Casilla is playing in his first spring game after being hindered by a hamstring injury he suffered early in camp.

-- X-rays were negative on outfielder Xavier Paul’s right hand. He was hit by a pitch Monday.
